Aluna George - You Know You Like It (DJ Snake Remix)
AlunaGeorge have an original version of their song ‘You Know
You Like it’, but we chose to use the DJ Snake remix, as the beat is more interesting
and gives us wider options of what we can do with it (in terms of editing) with
our music video footage. From the second the song begins, I’m already
captivated. The instrumental begins by sounding mystical, but then builds itself
into an up tempo beat. Another reason why this song would be easier to work
with is because the lead singer is female, whereas the other two songs we chose
had male singers. This way, it would be easier to find somebody to lip sing as
we both know more women than men who’d be up for it. Also, it’s a song we both
love equally! (Finally) Another important reason why we chose this version of the song is because it has no music video to it, so we wont be tempted to copy anything.
No dislikes, we’re definitely sticking with this song!
“Taking the boom and glitch of British bass
culture and allying it to the slick sweetness of classic American SWV or Destiny’s Child-style R&B”.
AlunaGeorge is a group made up of two members, Aluna Francis (vocals and song
writing) and George Reid (production and instrumentation). They are part of two
labels, one being an independent label and the other being a major label. This
is probably because they were founded by the independent label, Tri Angle Records,
at first. But after their songs became publicized, major labels wanted to
contact them and make them ‘join the team’. So that’s what they did, joined
Island Records also. In February 2013, AlunaGeorge released their debut album ‘Body
Music’. I think they chose to call their first album this so that, everybody
that doesn’t know their music, immediately has the idea that they like to make
dance music. I feel AlunaGeorge create ‘underground’ kind of music, sound wise,
but are designed to have mass appeal. This is due to the fact that they are
signed by a major label and are already on music channels on the television.
